FUNERAL SERVICES FOR ALAN BANNON AND JAMES SHEARS

Following the tragic deaths in Southampton recently of Alan Bannon and James Shears I can now confirm that funeral services have now been arranged as follows:

Alan Bannon’s funeral service will take place at St. Mary’s Church in St. Mary’s Street, Southampton, Hampshire, on Tuesday, 27 April at 2pm. The funeral will be followed by a private committal service.

James Shears’ funeral service will take place at St. George’s Church in Darby’s Lane, Oakdale in Poole, Dorset, at 11am on Friday, 30 April. This will be followed by a private cremation at Poole Crematorium, which will be attended by the family, friends, and close colleagues.

At the request of the families, both will be Fire & Rescue Service funerals.

Details of the memorial fund which has been set up for anyone who would like to make a donation in memory of Alan and James can be found below:

In the election for General Secretary, the Scrutineers have declared the result of the ballot as follows:

Our independent scrutineer’s (Popularis) report of voting in the above election, which closed at 2pm on Friday 23rd April, is as follows:-

Number of ballot papers dispatched: 42,376

 Number of ballot papers received: 10,039

 Number of papers found to be spoilt/invalid: 31

Result (1 to elect):-

Matt WRACK………………….. 6,088 ELECTED

John McGHEE ……………….. 3,920

The ballot papers will be stored securely for a period of twelve months before being destroyed.
